Nusa Dua, Bali
At the end of 2022 the International Esports Federation brought its world championship to Indonesia. The 14th IESF World Esports Championship was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, with over 600 players from 106 countries: the largest edition since IESF began in 2008.
Mfalme Studio was in the gallery for two of its titles: Counter-Strike and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Somebody else's standard
What set this job apart from a domestic tournament is that the standard was not ours. A world federation arrived with its own broadcast expectations, delegations from dozens of countries, and an international audience watching from their own time zones. The job was to meet that standard on home soil.
The production ran hybrid, on the ground in Bali and virtual, as we had done a year earlier in Papua. The difference was that this time the audience was the world.
This is the second of three stories: PON XX Papua 2021, when esports first entered PON; Bali 2022, when the standard went international; and PON XXI Aceh–Sumut 2024, when the results started to count for medals.
