Online
The PON XX esports finals were played in Jayapura. The road there started much earlier, and it ran entirely online.
After the provincial qualifiers, PB ESI opened the Pre-PON stage from 7 to 15 September 2021. Teams from 34 provinces fought for a place in the finals across four titles: Free Fire, Mobile Legends, PES 2021 and PUBG Mobile. Only some made it, and all of them competed without a single physical venue.
A stage that existed only on screen
Mfalme Studio broadcast the Pre-PON stage from the PON XX virtual stage: the caster desk, the arena and the PON XX identity, built entirely in digital form. Nine days of matches from across Indonesia, presented as one show that already felt like PON.
A week later the qualifiers played the PON XX finals at the Doyo Baru indoor hockey stadium in Jayapura.
