Two hundred and fifty-six teams registered. Sixteen made the bracket. None of them had ever played on a broadcast before.
The H3RO Rookie Tournament was Tri's open-to-all Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition for players under 22, run through Garudaku with PB ESI. Play started on 4 October 2023 as a single-elimination bracket, and the playoffs were streamed on 7 and 8 October, a solo bracket one day and the team bracket the next, with a Battle of Guardians playoff alongside. Gunadarma Esports Tinfo won the team title. The prize was not cash: the winners went into the H3RO Gaming Academy and on to a masterclass in Yogyakarta the following January.
Rookies on the same stage as the pros
Mfalme Studio produced the virtual broadcast. The brief was to give a student team the same treatment the main H3RO tournament gets, the same virtual stage, casters and match presentation, so that the first broadcast of their lives looked like the ones they had grown up watching.
It is the esport streaming format, scaled to an open tournament.
